Miss Bond
“Shine” which I thought would be very good because of the connotations and denotations. For example “Shine” being something bright which could lights and camera flashes which are commonly seen in the music business. Also celebrities can also be called stars and what do stars do? They shine!
Popin' - its quite a cool name. its including the idea of pop music plus adding the 'hip' side to it and making them feel good. it also can be looked at as dancing which you would hear this music at a school disco and little parties. its alos the title of a song which the artist could feature in the magazine.

Proposol Form Music Mag
The brief in which I have chosen for my music magazine is pop (an abbreviation of ‘popular music’.) The reason for why I chose this genre is for different reasons. This type of music I know about without having to do major research. When I was younger I listened to this sort of thing and still do occasionally. Also I have contact with children of the age in which my magazine will be targeting. I would easily be able to gather results from questionnaires and actually ask people what they want. This is key to selling the magazine.
The target audience which has already slightly been touched upon would be girls of the age of 8-15. They are very keen on young bands and solo artists. But just want to be up with the latest music fashion. Some buyers may not have established what sort of music they are into yet and this magazine is the perfect chance to highlight the greatest parts of the pop industry.
I have not got a definite title for my magazine yet however a few ideas have appeared. “Shine” which I thought would be very good because of the connotations and denotations. For example “Shine” being something bright which could lights and camera flashes which are commonly seen in the music business. Also celebrities can also be called stars and what do stars do? They shine!
The typical 11year old girl shouldn’t be forgotten about that are an important part of there childhood ahead of them. A combination of music gossip, interview and album reviews to really get them involved and aware of the music world. A stylish, cool and funky look that will make them feel good and a chance to dream to life that pop star life. An incredible magazine to really reach out to her.
The general idea behind my magazine is to encourage young girls to really follow pop music. They don’t have many responsibilities at this stage and we what to give them a sense of belonging. The sort of lifestyle we are trying to promote They love fashion, pop stars and boys and we want to make sure that comes through our magazine, through the interviews, pictures and more.
The style of the front cover should be really catching and cool cover lines as being cool, is the in thing. The main image wants to have taken control of the page making sure it’s big and clear. Lots of cover lines with a clear indication of what is being featured.
The shot which will be for the main image will be a medium close up. So that the girls can really see who is on the front without having to guess and not be too clear.
Certain features of the music magazine will be interviews from bands and solo artists, quizzes and fun competitions to get involved in, album/single reviews and female artists’ tips on girlie stuff.
The sort of language used will be simple and easy for them to read. It will also include some ‘texting’ language like “OMG” and “4eva”. The type of language they would use in everyday life.
Of course there are different pop magazines out there some of the most popular music magazine around for example “Top of the Pops” and “Smash Hits”. However this is new on the scene full of exactly what the girls want. It’s going to be much more cooler and have a great look.

Questionnaire Review
Lilla Jacks Miss Bond Tuesday 11th November
From my research I have been able to sum up what 8-15year olds like listening to and what sort of thing they generally like doing.
The majority of girls liked male solo artists and a common name which appeared on many was Chris Brown. Not many people wrote down bands which I did find surprising. This has influenced me in choosing the image for my front cover as being an image of a solo artist who is a male.
A lot of the youngsters don’t buy many things like DVDs or CDs due to the fact their mum and dad get it for them as ell as giving them a certain amount each week. This gives the impression that price is very important it can not be too expensive as it won’t get bought. Also it needs to be good value for money and something that will appeal to parent and ensure they wouldn’t mind getting the magazine for there child.
Most of 8-15year olds spend there time watching the TV which shows where they are mainly influenced. I want to change that and give them a wider view of life and music though my magazine.
The internet was too very popular according to the questionnaire. This ensures me that I could include certain aspects involving the internet and the download chart and quizzes where you enter online.
A large amount of children/teenagers wrote really expensive free gifts with the magazine, so different ideas have arisen. So maybe not having a gift every issue only once a month to make the gift worth it. Or increase the price or just give them a cheaper gift that is actually grateful.
Children programs such as Jake and Josh were always included when asked about there favorite TV shows which leads me to think that articles should be written about children musical like High School Musicals and Hannah Montana.
Having this research has helped me to gather information on what children actually want from a music magazine. It has helped me to see how they see certain issues and made me much more aware of what should and shouldn’t be included.

Top Of The Pops Language Review
‘Top of the Pops’ one of the most famous pop magazines of all times. Whose target audience is young girls, around the age of 8-14 years old. The language choice within this magazine will be specific to the target audience and will relate to what the message may be.
Just by looking at the front covers language choice it is clear who the target audience is due to the teenage slang (or text message style) used. For example “OMG” and “pics”. Using this type of language on the front enables the youngest to feel in their comfort zone as they know what is being said. It also uses these words to make the reader see that their magazine is up to date with the trends and knows what young people like. The cover lines on the front are short and catchy to really draw the reader in. Everything which is mentioned on the front is there because it’s the main features of this magazine, so individual words are key for them selling their magazine.
By just looking on the inside page again we can link back to the target audience being young girls. There is very little writing and instead many pictures. It is very clearly structured as we can see the interview is just a question and answer not quoting here and there.
The small paragraph just under the title uses many adjectives to describe what will be included in the interview “screaming fans, ritzy red carpet…” This technique is to persuade you to continue to read their magazine. Its simple and doesn’t drag on, the point is put across clearly.
The language used within the interview is very basic and informal as though the Jonas brothers were talking to a friend. Everything in which they say seems to say has a tone of excitement. Words that give that impression are “exciting” “great” “no way” “loved” and “totally” . The writer includes all of these words as it has an impact on the reader. If you believe someone to be really happy and feeling good, it will rub off on you. This is the sort of impression they have intended. Again we can see what they are saying is in an excitable way because of the amount of explanation marks used within their answers.
The language used outside of the interview is again simple due to the fact that the target audience is young and needs to be able to understand what is being said. The whole magazine is informal and uses small sentences within its work for example “it’s time you found out what all the fuss is about.” Everything has a sense of rhythm too which is down to language choice and the use of grammar within sentences like comers rather then stopping.
There are many rhetorical questions within the pages of the Jonas brothers. This is to involve the reader and get them to relate to what is being said.
The last part of the language used on this part of the magazine is by using celebrates to put the message across. At the bottom of the page there are the actors from camp rock who individually talk of there character. Having it coming from the character themselves makes the reader more comfortable as they are familiar with those faces and makes it worth reading, rather then somebody they don’t know which may make them loose interest.
As a whole the magazine really does target their audience through language. It is all very simple and easy to understand. It’s informal which gives the reader a sense of belonging and common ground with the magazine. Using small sentences or sentences with coma’s gives the effect on the reader which is intended. The language fits well with the audience and type of magazine.
